Duties & Responsibilities
The statutory duties of the Clerk are numerous, technical and legally essential to the proper operation of municipal government. The Clerk is the official keeper of the Township records. In addition to those items required by law, the Clerk's office prepares the agendas for all regular board meetings and any special board meetings and further prepares the minutes of each board meeting. The position of Clerk is an elected one. Some of the duties and responsibilities of the Clerk are defined by state statues, and include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining custody of all Township records
Recording and maintaining Township meeting minutes
Keeping the township book of oaths
Publishing board meeting minutes
Keeping voter registration files
Conducting elections
Administering the Finance, Purchasing and Accounts Payable sections
The Clerk is also responsible for publishing special meeting notices.
The Clerk maintains accurate records and an organized filing system of Macomb Township contracts, resolutions, ordinances and other special proceedings or activities that can be readily produced upon request. The Clerk is a member of the Township Board of Trustees and is in charge of elections for the Township.
