Work Begins on New Park

After months of designing and planning, work has begun on Pitchford Park. Last month the contract was awarded for the construction of Pitchford Park. This week crews have been busy clearing the land, making way for walking paths, pickleball courts, a dog park, and more. We can't wait to open this park to you!

New Township Property

Township Acquires Land for Future River Park

In late 2022, the Macomb Township Board of Trustees approved the purchase of the old Lions Club property, a large piece of land on North Avenue, just south of 24 Mile Road. The north branch of the Clinton River runs through the property, making it an ideal spot for a river park.
Trustee Peter Lucido III and his family donated the purchase price of the land to the township. “In the spirit of this holiday season, the family of the late Paul G. Lucido would like to give a gift to all of our friends and neighbors here in Macomb Township,” a letter to Supervisor Frank Viviano said in part. A motion was then approved to name the property the Paul and Annette Lucido River Park.

Grant Application Could Bring Observation Deck, Inclusive Park

During the Wednesday, December Board of Trustees Meeting, Macomb Township Trustees approve the submission of two SPARK Grant applications. This allows the township to submit an application for grants through the Department of Natural Resources, round 1, due December 19, 2022. Both applications submitted are for 1 Million each, and will make a great impact on both Pitchford Park and Town Center Park, if awarded. An inclusive playground over at Pitchford Park will allow residents of all ages and abilities the option to recreate together in a safe space, and over at Town Center Park, an observation deck and pathway completion around the McBride Drain will give residents a safe place to walk and observe the wildlife.

Round one of SPARK grant funds distributed is $15 million, and announcements of awarded grants during the week of Jan. 30, 2023.
