MDOT is rebuilding 2.5 miles of M-59

UPDATE: On Wednesday, May 11, 2022 the through traffic on M-97 (a.k.a. North Avenue or Groesbeck Hwy) will be closed.  All traffic will have to turn on M-59 and use a median turnaround in order to get from one side of M-59 to the other. So for instance, if you are on NB Groesbeck and want to continue past M-59, you will have to turn onto EB M-59, use a median turnaround to WB M-59 and then turn on NB North Avenue (Groesbeck). The same would go for the opposite direction. Scheduled to end on May 22. Through M-59 traffic remains unchanged, so EB and WB M-59 will not be affected.

Westbound M-59: Contractors will be focusing on WB M-59 to start, with lanes being reduced beginning on Tuesday, March 15. Traffic will be shifted to right lane and right shoulder while the median of westbound is being reconstructed.  Traffic is expected to be in this configuration for a few months.

Eastbound M-59: Starting Friday, April 1: Traffic shifts to right shoulder & lane -- Crews begin removing pavement from Elizabeth to Gratiot -- After Gratiot, traffic shifts towards median -- Closing WB to EB turnarounds, west of Groesbeck & Gratiot Ave.

The lane closures are expected to begin on eastbound on Wednesday, March 16.M-59-Macomb-Co-Hall-Road-Map
